Daffodil wishes for you a fancy dress and high heels. This is the epitome of delight as far as she's concerned.
Eden wishes you a good night's sleep with Scout and Fin sleeping like babies (well, the way babies supposedly sleep?) and that you come back here with your guards.
Soren wishes that you could come back here for a big family party with Duke.
I had all kinds of fun dreaming up imaginary presents for you. Here are some of my favorites:
I wish for you a snowshoing adventure up to a cabin in the woods. You get to stay there for a night. You light a fire in the hearth and sleep soundly hunkered below a down blanket with enormous loft.
I wish that you discover a letter tucked away in some find you picked up at a flea market. It is on old faded paper but the ink from a fountain pen is still visible in a scrawling but elegant script. You read a tender letter of love and appreciation from lovers long ago.
I wish for you a walk in the early morning hours. A fog has rolled in restricting your view and focusing your attention to the intricate treasures at hand--a spider's web made into a net of pearls from the beaded water droplets lining every sinewy strand, a small finch pecking at the ground, beautiful lichen all mottled on a slab of stone.
I wish for you a full day to work on a project you do with your hands, something involving saturated vibrant color that takes your breath away. You get to see concrete progress--completion even! You have the satisfactory feeling of a job well done and creating something beautiful.
I wish for you some lavender you just picked from your luxuriant herb garden and have some in fresh lemonade for lunch along with fresh peaches, pickles, homemade artisan bread and array of cheeses: smooth, stinky, salty, sharp.
I wish for you a biking trip through the Loire river valley in France. You bike through fields of sunflowers with the occasional forgotten castle like this one or this one. Each night you stop at a small, quirky bed and breakfast and feast on fresh, local, organic French cuisine. Each place you stay stocks you with food for the next day's journey.

Happy birthday.
Go ahead, join the wishing.

Happy Birthday, Joh!
I'm wishing you a day of overflowing gratitude, one of those days where your heart is brim with joy and you feel keenly aware of the love you have for others and the love they have for you.
And a fantastic evening of star watching followed by snuggling under the blankets in bed, devouring a book that you can't seem to put down (I love those!).
Moondogs, what a fabulous bunch of gifts! I feel so very loved!
D: How did you know this is just what I've been wishing for? Can the dress have ruffles in the skirt and sparkle in the bodice and be made of lots and lots of really light fabric? I think those heels have sparkles too.
E: How did you also know this is just what I've been wishing for? (and our guards, too!) That is a wish to hang on to, for sure.
(I've been laughing out loud and reading these to Scout; she asks, "who sent it? who sent the birthday cake?")
S: Let's make it a big family party with sparklers at the end and cider at the beginning. (ps: I hear Duke has gotten chubby!)
B: I feel like a queen wiht such a stack of beautiful presents, each one delightful enough on its own. What a treat to find a party here too!
Liz: How did you know?! We had a black out (the cake was unfortunately still in the oven) but that meant an incredible view of the stars; Andy and I went out to the swings in our yard and moved back and forth under the milky way (discussing our tendencies to be for or against The Man).
Thanks for all the love, you guys!
You sure are good at picking out presents.
My birthday's on December 1st. I'd love a wish.
But even just reading your wishes made me feel teary with happy thoughts and dreams.
Happy 40th birthday. I went para-sailing in Hawaii Kai above the Hammer head sharks for my 40th birthday.
Much Love and many happy days to come.
Yvonne, Gary, Isabel and Elena
