We came home to the "spoor" (Martin's description) of visitors: someone had planted a mystery shrub in the corner of our lawn:
I thought at first my Dad had done it since there was other evidence that he had stopped by (D's pants left in Provo and treats), but a phone call cleared him. We couldn't think who else would have gifted us so. I thought maybe one of the people Martin roped into helping him plant some fruit trees this week put it there, either in jest or genuine vegetative encouragement. Tonight amid the lightning, rumbling thunder, and heavy, intermittent raindrops, our neighbors came clean. Thank you Sprouls! Mystery shrub provenance discovered. And here's a shot of our new little trees:
One last detail from today. During our late supper this evening Soren accused Daffodil of etiquette hypocrisy. He usually sits across from her at the table and lately we can't get through a meal without him complaining about Daffodil's table manners. I have not noticed anything thoroughly objectionable, though none of them are what you might call refined eaters at this point. Maybe I'm just oblivious. Soren, in any case, finds her a repeat offender. This was, however, the first time I've heard the outraged title of "hypocrite!" attached to an open mouth (and I don't mean gossip).
p.s., I love a good rainbow (rare for Utah, no Manoa valley here!) and a good storm even more. Tonight we got both along with beautiful diffused light. We failed to capture any of these delights on film.
p.p.s., I can't seem to avoid the parenthetical (case in point).

Ha! Are you going to leave your magical mystery shrub there? Your trees look good. We missed you last night. xoxo
Probably not in that exact spot but we might make a spot for it someplace else. We missed seeing you too! xoxo back.
Oh Becca, it's so fun to get a glimpse into your goings-on. Thanks so much for visiting this weekend. Leah was thrilled to have you at the baptism, and your asiago cheese was the hit of the party. You are the most....
I LOVE the trees in the front yard!
Love love love!!!
the real question here is what kind of topiary are you going to make your mystery shrub into? ;)
