Weekend 4:59s

good greens at The Dodo
strained rib muscle using power tools
coop progress: a standing structure!*
narrowly escaped potentially-horrific car accident**
good samaritans in distress
goodbye to the dog car
pinochle and chocolate covered almonds

sunday afternoon snooze
sort of disappointing berry goodness (at least my execution of it was unsatisfactory)

*And here I will diverge from the 4:59 format. I truly did strain a muscle contorting myself and pushing on the power drill trying to punch holes through a 2x4 for the coop. We now have the walls framed and connected. Hopefully we will get them on the "foundation" tomorrow. These plans ask that we do not post photos of the construction-in-progress, but be assured that when we are finished I will post more about the coop and our chicken adventure. In the meantime, the birds are getting big and bigger, stinkier, and also, sometimes, endearing. This afternoon they were all huddled on the back step almost as if they were asking to come in out of the rain (probably the only time their inside bin would be welcome). Doesn't this sound fun? We are generally immersed in all things chicken right now.

**I may write more about this later, but suffice it to say our beater commuter died while I was on the freeway yesterday. The transmission seized, the front wheels locked, and I skidded to a stop barely out of the lane of traffic. I feel lucky to be okay, and so grateful for the generous help I was given on the side of the road. It's the end of an era.

We should have a dog car funeral. At least a memorial. I'm so glad over and over again that you were protected.

Great love note from your very own floure. Love the big kissy lips—nice touch.
